Menwa is a civilian army educated and equipped to defend the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia as the embodiment of the Universal People’s Defense and Security System (Sishankamrata). Menwa is a state defense group that represents the Pancasila and 45 Constitution-stipulated principles of the Indonesian people. Menwa is distinct from the TNI and other civic groups. According to Menwa’s historical documents, MENWA’s path to protect the nation has been filled with valor and patriotism. The lengthy history of MENWA started in 1942, during the Japanese occupation, 58 years ago.

A citizen who has had military training has Menwa (student element). In addition, menwa get instructed in military expertise such as weapon usage, war tactics, survival, parachuting, military self-defense, military gymnastics, disguise, and navigation, among other skills.

Function of Student Regiment

  1. Improve the academic talents of members of the Indonesian Student Regiment in Higher Education via coaching.
  2. Individuals and units in the sphere of State Defense should be provided with maintenance, empowerment, and capacity growth.
  3. Conduct disciplinary training for members of the Indonesian Student Regiment as both students and community members.

Student Regiment Assignments

  1. Implementing the Higher Education Tri Dharma and aiding with the execution of other activities and initiatives in Higher Education.
  2. Assist in the execution of the community protection role (LINMAS), particularly Disaster and Refugee Management (PBP)
  3. Assist youth groups in implementing state defense awareness and national perspective.
